Frequently Asked Questions
What do you include in your weekly lawn service?
Our lawn service includes cutting the grass, trimming the edges, and blowing off the driveways and sidewalks.
Do you bag the grass?
Generally, we encourage mulching the grass rather than bagging it. Mulching the grass returns essential nutrients back to the soil. Contrary to popular belief, mulching grass does not lead to built up thatch if it is cut regularly. However, upon your request and for a minimal fee we will bag the grass at your property.
What is your fertilizing program?
We offer your choice of both chemical or organic fertilizing programs. More details on our programs and options can be found here.
Why should I aerate my lawn?
Regularly aerating your lawn is important for the overall health of your lawn for several reasons. First, keeping your lawn aerated will loosen the soil and reduce compaction. Soil naturally compacts over time and this can lead to a variety of problems including moss invasion. Since compacted soil is hard for grass roots to penetrate, more shallow growing organisms such as weeds can take over. When a lawn is aerated regularly, it allows water and other nutrients to more effectively reach the root system which results in a healthier lawn. Finally, aerating helps break down any built up thatch so helps prevent insect and other thatch related problems.
Do I need to dethatch my lawn?
Dethatching your lawn is usually not necessary with proper maintenance. The general rule of thumb is that if you have a half inch or more of thatch on your lawn it should be removed. Otherwise aerating should be sufficient.
What about cleanups?
We offer both Spring and Fall lawn cleanups. In the Spring we will remove any leftover leaves and fallen branches, acorns, etc from the property. In the Fall we can either do one or two visits according to your needs and preferences.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes. Our company and its employees are fully insured for both liability and workmen's compensation. All of our employees are legally allowed to work in the United States.
How do you handle billing?
Generally, we will bill once per month at the end of the month of service. Bills can either be emailed or mailed, and are due 14 days after receipt. If you are on our full service plan, we can break down the bill into even monthly payments for simplicity. You will receive a bill detailing what services were done and when.
How much do you charge?
Our prices vary and it is best to contact us to discuss pricing and to see exactly what you are looking for.
